PFT scoring
Can someone tell me how you score a PFT? Thanks.

100 points possible for each event.
Each pull up is worth 5 points.
Each crunch is worth 1 point.
18:00 equals 100 points in the run. Subtract 1 point for each 10 seconds.

I can't answer that question, but I can add this:
When you are testing yourself, you have to remember to test all three in one shot. I know I can run a bit faster if I haven't already done the pullups and crunches.

225 is first class...but pretty unsat in my book.

But come on, 3 pullups is passing? That's ridiculous. You only need to do two to get into recruit training. It should be five at the minimum.
55 situps? Again, if you're not in the 80s you really aren't trying hard enough.
About the only setup I agree with is the run time, 18 minute 3 miles is very respectable and should be 100%. But 28 minute 3 miles to pass? That's a half hour to run 12 laps around a football field.

Achped, I am glad that you don't think that the minimums are acceptable. But, I've seen some pretty decent Marines that were close the the minimum on run times, and pull ups. Some of these people had highly technical jobs, and they were very good at them. No excuse to not be better in the PT area, but that didn't define them as Marines.
As for 225 being first class, that is just sad. Our platoon considered it failing to not have a first class, so that is one way to look at it. Regardless, you should be pushing to be around 285 as a minimum score.

You know...this brings up a good point. You dont have to have a 300 PFT EXPERT Rifle score, CWSQ swim...but if you are "good" at all that you do and are serious when it comes to this stuff...you can make an outstanding Marine. Just be serious about the stuff and do it right.
